This eight year project resulted in the publication of Soul Calling: A Photographic Journey Through The Hmong Diaspora (Heyday Books, 264 pages hardbound). The book and two museum exhibitions chronicled the journey of Hmong refugees from The Secret War in Laos to the Central Valley of California.
The Hmong Photographic History & Culture Archive is the latest addition to the Soul Calling portfolio. This digital collection website features 2,500 images selected from more than 40,000 captured between 2004 and 2014. Every picture is captioned and each of the 87 subject galleries includes a narrative text. Launched in 2026, the project will take three years to complete with support from the City of Fresno Measure P EAAC Fund.
